Liselle batt, iapf-1
Liselle strives to be the kind of farrier she has sought for her own horses- knowledgeable, friendly, patient and professional. Liselle's interest in hoof care began in Houston, TX, where she volunteered weekly with an area barefoot trimmer. After graduating from Washington State-based Mission Farrier School in 2011, Liselle worked for nearly two years as an apprentice for two farriers in Maine before opening her own practice. In 2013, she certified with the International Association of Professional Farriers (IAPF). Liselle also holds a B.S. in English and Geology from James Madison University in Virginia and a PhD in Geology from the University of Idaho.
Liselle has ridden horses all her life. She and her husband own Butterfield Farm, a 130 acre horse farm in the mountains of western Maine, where she currently rides her arabian Bazeyn and drives her pony Stormy. She offers natural horsemanship training at her farm, as well as trailer-in farrier service and seasonal boarding.

Sometimes the day goes smoother with an experienced set of helping hands. Read below to learn about the assistants who help improve the quality and efficiency of your appointment. If needed, I can schedule a helper for days when the owner is unavailable to hold their horse. This allows us to maintain flexibility in my work schedule without compromising yours. Assitants are also perfect for horses who need extra support, such as foals or geriatrics. All our assistants are experienced handlers who own horses of their own and share our love of them, so your herd is in great hands!
Hilary wojcik
Many of you have met Hilary- she brings a soft touch with horses and great positive energy to the barn. Hilary practices dressage recreationally and loves a good trail-ride. She and her family keep two horses-Willow and Nala.
Mary batt
Pretty much everything I know about horses came from my mom, and I'm fortunate to enjoy her help on the job from time to time. Mary is a great hand in the barn, still rides her quarter horse Ollie avidly, and she loves meeting new friends who enjoy her passion for horses.
Lorien batt
Physician by day, farrier assistant by day-off, my sister is a tremendous add to the team. A horse enthusiast all her life, she currently owns Stonehaven Farm, with freisian sporthorse Arwen, quarter horse Obi and fiesty arabian Arod.
